The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has extended support to the agitating journalists of Nepal-1 television channel.
According to news report by Kantipur daily, IFJ’s president Christopher Warren has written a letter to the channel’s chief Nalini Singh at its head office in New Delhi drawing attention to the demands including ‘appointment letters’ raised by the journalists working in the channel.
In his letter, Warren has said that guarantee of fundamental rights like giving appointment letters, fixing working hours, payment of regular salaries would help to achieve sustainable journalism.
Meanwhile, Labour Ministry has called agitating journalists and channel management for talks to sort out the problem.
