HRH Princess Sruti honours Tara Devi

Kathmandu, Feb. 25: Her Royal Highness Princess Sruti Rajya Laxmi Devi Rana honoured famed singer Tara Devi with “Nai Sur Samman” (award) at a function here today.

Her Royal Highness the Princess, on behalf of 27 lyricists, presented her an address of felicitations and released a book entitled “Ukali Orali Haru Ma Tara Devi.”

The Nai Sur Samman (award) carries a purse of Rs. 25,000 along with a copper plaque.

Tara Devi who made her debut (in Radio Nepal) as a singer in 2015 B.S. has now more than 4,000 songs to her credit.

A new song of Tara Devi, who sang it after an interval of 10 years on Feb. 13, was also released today.

The book released today contains articles on Tara Devi written by the 27 lyricists.

Nai Publications president Mrs Indira Prasai, member-secretary Narendra Raj Prasai and president of Laxmi Prasad Devkota Foundation Prof. Ghataraj Bhattarai also highlighted the contribution of Tara Devi to the enrichment of Nepali songs.
