House of Representatives adjourned until July 2

The House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned until July 2 after tabling the regulations related to the functioning of the cabinet.

The seven party alliance agreed to adjourn the parliament to concentrate on peace talks between the government and the Maoists.

The regulations tabled on the House have given full authority to the Cabinet in taking major decisions including the appointment of ambassadors; appointment and resignation of the Chief of the Army Staff; appointment, posting, promotion and resignation of army officers of the rank Colonel and above.

According to the regulations, the Cabinet will also decide on the appointment, posting, promotion and resignation of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the officers above the rank of DIG of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.

The Cabinet will also decide on establishing new installations, or shifting the existing installations and dissolving any organisational structure of all security agencies.

As per the new draft. all draft bills to be presented in the House of Representatives by the government and the treaties and agreements to be signed with foreign government will be presented in the Cabinet.

It will issue the ordinances and will decide on granting award, decoration and amnesty.

The regulations related to the government’s division of labour was also tabled today.

The House on Thursday also unanimously passed the proposal to form a Special Security Committee, Special Committee to Implement the Declaration of the HoR and Special Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
