KATHMANDU: The government shunted high profile Home Secretary Shri Kanta Regmi to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, sources at Ministry of Home said. The cabinet meeting on Monday made a decision to change the Home Secretary.

Keshab Rajbhandari was appointed new Home Secretary. Sources said that Regmi was shunted following serious differences with Home Minister Khum Bahadur Khadka. Regmi has close link with some senior leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress.

The government also transferred chief district officer of Kathmandu Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai to the Ministry of Home and appointed Karna Bahadur Chand as the chief administrator in Kathmandu district.

Transfer of secretaries in other Ministries is also expected in the near future.
