Home Minster directs to hold municipal polls in free and fair manner

Home Minister Kamal Thapa has directed all Chief District Officers of mid and far western regions and chiefs of security agencies to hold the municipal polls slated for February 8 next year in a free and fair manner.

Giving directives to them in Nepalgunj on Thursday, Minister Thapa said the government is able to hold the polls in a free and fair manner, according to state run Radio Nepal.

Stating that the Election Commission (EC) will hold the polls and the government’s duty is to provide security and assist in other managerial works, Minister Thapa said that the government had completed all the necessary preparations for it.

Minister Thapa warned that the government will be compelled to take stern action against those who try to obstruct people’s right to vote.

Regional Administrator of the Mid and Far West regions, Chiefs of divisional heads of the Royal Nepalese Army, Zonal Administrators, CDOs’ and Zonal and Regional Chiefs of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were present on the occasion.
