Kathmandu, June 20: The Home Ministry asked the media not to sensitize and distort the recently announced Public Security Regulation. The spokesman of the Home Ministry issued a press release today asking the media to exercise their right responsibly.

The new Public Security Regulation does not at all infringe the people’s right to carry out political activities. It does not restrict strikes and demonstrations, sit-in and other types of protest programmes, if they are peaceful and within the purview of the Constitution, the spokesman said.

Media and political parties have criticized the recently announced Public Security regulation as an act of curtailing the civil and political rights of the people. They have claimed that the new regulation bans political activities and   protest programmes against the government.
