Kathmandu, June 30: His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev reached Dubai of United Arab Emirates enroute to London for regular medical check-up.
Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah also reached Dubai along with His Majesty.
Earlier, His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev left for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates this morning by a regular flight of Royal Nepal Airlines in connection with the annual medical check up.
Their Majesties were bid farewell by chairman of the Council of Royal Representatives His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Birkam Shah Dev at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.
Also present on the occasion was His Royal Highness Prince Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah.
Their Majesties were also bid farewell by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
Also present at the airport to bid farewell to Their Majesties were Chief Justice Keshav Prasad Upadhyaya, Speaker Taranath Ranabhat, National Assembly Chairman Dr Mohamad Mohsin, Chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee Dr Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, leader of the main opposition party Madhav Kumar Nepal, ministers, MPs, Charge d’Affaires at the British Embassy Andrew Michel and other distinguished persons.
Earlier, at a function at the Royal Palace, His Majesty the King administered the oath of chairman of the Council of Royal Representatives to HRH Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. At the same function, His Majesty administered oath of member of the council of Royal Representatives to HRH Prince Gyanendra Bir Birkam Shah.
Similarly, His Majesty administered oath of member of the council to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Raj Parishad Standing Committee Chairman Dr Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, and of member secretary of the council to Pashupati Bhakta Maharjan, principal secretary to His Majesty.
