KATHMANDU: His Majesty King Gyanendra expressed shock and condemned the terror attacks in the Indian parliament in New Delhi Thursday killing several innocent people. In a message to Indian President K.R. Narayanan the King said he was “shocked to learn of the cowardly act of terrorism on the Samsad Bhawan, the seat of Parliament of the Republic of India.”

The King “strongly condemned” the “hineous crime” and called on nations to work together “in combating and eliminating terrorism from the world.” The King said Nepal supports India in its fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in a separate message to his Indian counterpart Atal Bihari Vajpayee also strongly condemned the terror attack against a “vital institution of democracy.”

Deuba said Nepal is also a victim of terrorism and said “there is an urgent need for closer co-operation among all to eliminate this menace from the world.”
