HLPC summons defence secretary

The High Level Probe Commission (HLPC) has called the defence secretary for interrogation regarding his role in suppression of the people’s movement II.

According to the spokesperson of the commission Dilli Raman Acharya, defence secretary Bishnu Dutta Upreti was handed over the letter to be present before the commission for interrogation on Monday at 10:30 in the morning.

The commission, headed by former Supreme Court justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi, earlier had said it would decide whether or not the king should be asked to file his statement after interrogating the defence secretary.

Acharya said the commission is yet to decide the procedure of recording the king’s statement regarding his role in suppressing the April uprising.

The commission has so far interrogated more than 200 people including security chiefs and ministers of the erstwhile royal government.
