His Majesty hands over Rs. 2 M for Myanglung

BIRATNAGAR, Jan. 3: His Majesty the King has handed over Rs. 2 million for the reconstruction of the historic city Myanglung, the headquarters of Tehrathum in northeast Nepal, that was ravaged by a fire last month. His Majesty the King today handed over the purse of Rs. 2 million to Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand at the civic reception function held in Biratnagar.

Earlier acting president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Binod Bahadur Shrestha had handed over a purse of Rs. 1 million to His Majesty the King. His Majesty the King had then added an equal amount to the purse.

More than 85 houses were badly damaged by the fire that occurred last month. A total of 285 families of Myanglung Bazaar have been displaced. According to our correspondent in Tehrathum, Their Majesties the King and Queen are visiting Myanglung to acquire information about the resettlement of the victims of a massive fire that raged through the headquarters of Tehrathum recently. The local people in Myanglung in northeast Nepal are working round the clock to construct roads for a warm reception of Their Majesties.

A 100-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the president of Tehrathum Chambers of Commerce and Industry. A meeting was held today under the convenorship of the Chief District Officer of Tehrathum Hari Lochan Sharma in preparation for the warm reception. According to Sharma, the people are highly thrilled about the Royal visit.
