High-level commission grills suspended chief of APF

The high level commission formed to investigate atrocities committed during the popular movement of the country grilled suspended chief of Armed Police Force (APF) Sahabir Thapa on Wednesday.

Thapa did not answer the queries of journalists after filing statement at the commission.

Likewise, the then chief of the Rajparisad standing committee Parshunarayan Chaudhari could not be present at the commission due to ill-health.

Chaudhari sent an application saying that he could only be able to attend the commission only after two or three days.

The commission has re-summoned him for next Monday.

Meanwhile, the commission has summoned former Home Minister Kamal Thapa and then Chief Secretary Lokman Singh Karki on Friday.

The commission had already summoned two vice-chairmen of the then council of ministers, some other members, suspended chiefs of the security agencies and people were believed to be responsible for suppressing the pro-democracy movement of the country.

Meanwhile, one of the members of the commission, Harihar Birahi told journalists on Wednesday that the commission might summon the chairman of the council of ministers, as he is more responsible for atrocities then vice chairmen and members.

His Majesty King Gyanendra was the chairman of the council of Ministers during the period.
