The commission grilled former ministers in the royal cabinet Prakash Koirala and Keshar Bahadur Bista, chairman of dissolved Rajparisad standing committee Parshu Narayan Chaudhary and Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Force Dilip Kumar Shrestha on Monday.

Talking to journalists after filing the statement at the Commission, then minister for Science and Technology, Koirala, said the cabinet should take the responsibility of the killings and suppression during the April Jana Andolan.

Koirala, however, was not clear on whether the King was responsible for the suppression.

Talking to journalists, former Minister Bista said, “How can I bear the moral responsibility when I was the minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives.”

Stating that there was epidemic of bird flu during his tenure, Bista said, “I will take the responsibility of death of chickens due to bird flu, not of the pro-democracy activists.”

Likewise, chairman of the dissolved Rajparishad, Chaudhary refuted the allegations of giving wrong advise to the King and added that he would not accept the commission’s verdict if it held him responsible.

Shrestha also denied he had a hand in suppressing the movement.
