Six persons have been injured in a clash with the police in Jamuwa of Sunsari along the east-west highway Saturday afternoon.

The clash occurred when police deployed for by-elections in Morang were returning to Saptari. Police charged batons on the victims after the latter pelted stones at the police trucks.

The Koshi flood victims had obstructed transportation along the highway as part of their protests with various demands.

The police also fired three rounds of bullets in the air to control the tension.

Among the injured, the condition of Mohammad Samim, Mohammad Kaliuddin and Mohammad Aluddin is critical. They are being treated at Inaruwa District hospital. nepalnews.com Apr 11 09
