Deputy Prime Minister Badri Prasad Mandal said Wednesday that the government would thwart all efforts directed at interrupting the civic reception to be hosted in Biratnagar in the honour of King Gyanendra and Queen Komal by the people of the eastern region.
“The Nepalese people will retaliate to any attempt to pose a hurdle to the civic reception.” Mandal said while addressing a gathering of his party workers in Biratnagar. “The people have immense faith and respect in Their Majesties. The people will destroy any force that tries to hurt their sentiment. There is no limit to tolerance,” he said.
The statement of the Deputy Prime Minister has come at a time when the Maoists have called for a bandh in the Mechi and Koshi zones, which coincides with the civic reception to be hosted in the honour of the King and Queen.
