Govt to form peace team for talks

A senior minister of the newly formed cabinet has said that the government would soon form a team to hold peace negotiations with the Maoist insurgents.

According to reports, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Buddhi Raj Bajracharya said that the team would discuss the insurgents’ demand only after they sit for dialogues.

“The Maoists have repeatedly said that they would hold dialogues with the King only. Now, it’s the best time for them to come for talks as the present government is formed under the chairmanship of His Majesty,” reports quoted the Minister as saying. He was speaking in an interaction program in the capital.

Saying that the present government would stress in establishing permanent peace in the country, the Minister urged the insurgents to come for dialogues unconditionally.

Minster Shrestha also clarified that the government has no intentions of banning any political parties in the country. He even asked for their (parties) support and cooperation with the King’s move to restore peace and control corruption in the country.
