‘Govt should solve Maoist problem’

Dhankuta, June 19 : Vice chairman of the National Assembly Chiranjibi Prasad Rijal has expressed the conviction that His Majesty’s Government would promptly seek a resolution to the Maoist problem in view of the murders, abduction of children and violence being perpetrated and the grave challenge facing the country.

He was speaking at a meet the press programme organised by Nepal Press Union, Dhankuta unit here Sunday.

In reply to a query, vice chairman Rijal said that the Maoist activities are the outcome of the problems of livelihood and unemployment.

Asked about the report brought out by the Indian magazine India Today, he said Indian journalists are trying to spoil the friendly relations subsisting between Nepal and India.

NPU, Dhankuta unit president Mohan Bantawa was on the chair.

Vice chairman Rijal also met with representatives of the Nepali Congress, the Nepal Trade Union Congress, the Nepal Women’s Organisation and the Nepal Teachers Association and inquired about their activities.
