Govt opens 83 countries for Nepali workers

KATHMANDU: The government has opened access to 83 additional countries for Nepali job seekers.

Minister for Labour and Transport Management, Raghuji Panta, disclosed this at a press conference on Friday. He said, “Decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting on November 29.”

Earlier, Nepali workers had access to 25 countries, mostly in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

The minister further said that aspiring Nepalis could visit the newly listed countries in search of work under the Migrant Labour Law through manpower agencies. He, however, added that the concerned manpower agencies were required to meet the existing legal procedures to obtain permission from the ministry before sending Nepali workers to the newly listed countries.

New countries opened for employment include France, China, Russia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Greece, Australia, Philippines, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Laos, Sweden, Thailand, Indonesia, Mongolia, Hungary, Chile, Argentina, Turkey, Lebanon, Belgium, Iran, Canada, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Algeria, Spain, Bangladesh, Albania, Norway, Finland, Tanzania, Morocco, Cuba, Cambodia, Vietnam, Kenya, Mexico, Luxemburg, Nigeria, Libya, Peru, Brazil, Portugal, Costa Rica, Mauritius, Iceland, Holy Sea, Malta, Panama, Tunisia, Fiji, Zambia, Mozambique, Venezuela, Colombia, Estonia, Ukraine, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, oldova, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Guinea, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Seychelles, Slovenia, Macedonia, Croatia, Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
