The government and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) today agreed to hold talks on Friday.

Both sides are yet to disclose the talks venue. Peace and Reconstruction minister Ram Chandra Poudel leads the three-member government team while the MFJ team is headed by its chairman Upendra Yadav.

The much-awaited dialogue is taking place after the formation of a judicial commission on Friday to investigate the loss of lives and property during Terai unrest weeks earlier. The MJF welcomed the formation of the commission and expressed readiness to sit for talks.

Earlier, the Forum had turned down repeated talks offers made by the government, insisting that the latter failed to create an atmosphere conducive for talks.
