The government has issued directives to publication houses asking them to acquire information from the security sources prior to publishing or broadcasting news concerning security affairs.

A notice issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications on Tuesday said publishing or broadcasting interviews, articles, news, information, reading materials, opinions or personal views that directly or indirectly instigate or support terrorist and destructive activities and terrorism has been prohibited by execrising the rights given by the Press and Publication Act-2048 B.S. and the National Broadcasting Act-2049 B.S.

The government has also warned that the media that publishes or broadcasts news or views that directly or indirectly instigate or support terrorist and destructive activities and terrorism will be punished.

Meanwhile, the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Baman Prasad Neupane called on editors of the broadsheets on Tuesday and asked to comply with the government directives while covering news on security related issues, reports said.
