Chairman of Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament, Prakash Jwala has said that the government was delaying the process of freezing transactions of land of the King.
Speaking at a press meet in Nepalgunj on Monday, Jwala said, “The government didn’t pay heed even as the committee gave writtern directives to the government to stop all transation of King’s property.
He also revealed that the King possesses over 100,000 ropanis of land altogether.
Meanwhile, he also accused the government of not being serious about the problems of the flood-hit people of Banke and Bardiya.
“Most of the people in the two districts have been badly affected. Ten days have passed, but the victims have not got relief materials,” he added.
Out of 7,000 flood-affected households of Bardiya, only 1,183 households have received relief materials, the Nepal Red Cross Society, Bardiya, said, adding that there were sufficient relief materials for only 164 more households.
Stating that the inundation followed by the natural flow of Rapti river was stopped due to the embankment construction by India, the committee said that it will urge the government to hold dialogue with the government of India regarding the Laxmanpur embankment.
