Minister of State for Information and Communications Shrish Shumshere Rana has said that the government has accepted the recent verdict of the Supreme Court and remains committed to abide by the decision of the Judiciary.

State Minister Rana, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said that the government respects any verdict of the judiciary, according to reports.

State Minister Rana made this remark while responding to the 27-point memorandum of the National Journalists Federation (NJF).

The SC scrapped the controversial Royal Commission for Corruption Control formed by the King under Article 127 of the constitution immediately after the February 1 royal takeover of last year saying the formation of the anti-graft body was unconstitutional as it contradicted with Articles 83 (3), 84, 85, 88 (3), 89, 105 (7) and 127 of the Constitution of the Kingdom (1990).

Rana also made it clear that the government is always ready to hold dialogue with all to resolve the present political crisis dogging the country.

Rana further said that the government is mulling to issue a complete media ordinance to regulate media sector of the country, adding the media ordinance announced earlier is incomplete.

The 27-point memorandum submitted by the NJF demanded to review the communication policy 2049 BS, formation of powerful Media Council dissolving the present Press Council Nepal and recognition to other media organizations.

Likewise other demands of the NJF are effective implementation of working journalist Act, unbiased classification of newspapers and hike in the amount of welfare advertisement.

The NJF also cautioned the minister about the misuse of press passes issued by the Department of Information and operations of newspaper, television, radio and Internet under one management, reports added.
