Government releases Rs. 70 million to Maoists

The government has decided to release additional 70 million rupees for the management of seven main cantonment sites and 21 sub-camps of the Maoists.

Wednesday’s special meeting of the council of ministers decided to release the amount for the management of Maoist camps and food supply.

According to sources, the government decided to give the money to Maoists through Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

Earlier, the government has already made available Rs 316 million to the Maoists for the upkeep of its guerrillas stationed at seven main and 21 satellite cantonments across the country.

Meanwhile, Maoists have decided to take all the remuneration of the members of the interim legislature in the party. The parliamentarian mobilization cell of the party will manage necessary expense and facilities to the lawmakers.

Similarly, the party has decided that Maoist members in the interim legislature will not be allowed to select their personal secretary. The party will mobilize one party cadre as personal secretary.

The Kantipur Daily quoted Maoist lawmaker and central committee member of the party Lekh Raj Bhatta as saying that the party will manage all the expenses of the lawmakers and will take all the remuneration of the lawmakers, adding, “How we will be different than other parties like Nepali Congress and CPN-UML if we also allowed lawmakers to work as per their wish.”

One lawmaker will get 34 thousand rupees every month including remuneration and other facilities.

There are 73 lawmakers representing Maoists in the interim legislature.
