Ending the long period of uncertainty, the government has made new appointments to various-state run agencies and corporations.
Monday’s meeting of the council of ministers appointed Bidur Prasad Poudel as chairman of the Bagmati Sewage Improvement Committee, Tej Prakash Pandit as executive chairman of Gorkhapatra Corporation, Mitharam Dukhi and Jaya Shankar Mahat as chairman and general manager of Rastriya Samachar Samiti, respectively.
Likewise the cabinet meeting appointed Madan Kumar Sharma as managing director of Nepal Television and Ritu Raj Gadtaula as member secretary of the Social Welfare Council (SWC).
Earlier the government had re-instated Dr. Prabha Basnet as member secretary of SWC following the Supreme Court’s verdict. The government appointed Gadtaula for the post after protest from employees of SWC against Dr. Basnet.
Joint-secretary at the Department of Irrigation Arjun Karki has been appointed as director general of Nepal Electricity Authority and Gautam Das Shrestha managing director of Nepal Arilines Corporation.
Similarly, the cabinet appointed Bishwonath Goel as executive chairman of Nepal Oil Corporation, Tej Kanta Jha as general manager of Udayapur Cement Factory and Gunaraj Ghimire as general manager of Sewerage Management Committee.
The government also appointed Rishav Dev Sharma as general manager of National Trading Limited, Ramesh Aryal as general manager of Hetauda Cement Factory, Shyam Kumar Mahato as general manager of Janakpur Cigarette Factory, Laxman Prasad Agrawal as general manager of Nepal Drugs Limited, Bharat Bahadur Basnet as general manager of Small and Cottage Industries, Beni Bahadur Rawal as general manager of Nepal Food Corporation, Kausal Nath Bhattarai as general manager of Industrial Estate Management Limited, Yogeshwor Pant as general manager of Agriculture Development Bank and Dhruva Bajimaya as general manager of Drinking Water Supply and Sewage Management Corporation.
The cabinet meeting also approved the expansion of the interim constitution drafting committee.
The meeting also accepted the resignation of Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and other members and also accepted the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner.
The cabinet, however, did not take any decision on filling the vacancies of ambassadors, and on appointing secretaries and vice-chancellor, rector and registrar of Tribhuvan University.
