The Koirala Nepali Congress has called an all party meeting at 8 AM Sunday to discuss the current political crisis in the country, the party said. The meeting will discuss a controversial proposal by IGP Pradip SJB Rana to postpone the November 13 elections by four months, phase wise elections and the heir of the Nepali Congress party flag and symbol.

The Koirala Congress claims the Election Commission is procrastinating in giving its verdict; the Deuba Congress is also claiming the party flag and symbol. But the Commission said it took three months to decide on a similar dispute several years ago.

Ten political parties have been invited to the meeting. The meeting comes one day after the CPN-UML standing committee meeting Saturday called on the Maoists to declare a ceasefire and urged the

government and rebels to start a dialogue to end the violence and resolve Nepal’s worst internal conflict.

The party Saturday also asked its activists to submit a declaration of assets to a judicial property commission; the commission said only 24,000 among 36,000 politicians and officials have declared their assets.

The government this week give the commission another six months to complete its investigation.
