Rajendra Bhandari, who tested positive for banned drugs after winning two gold medals at the 10th South Asian Games held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, has admitted that he is happy to hear Good Health Medical Services (GHMS) Pvt Ltd , authorized agent of SRL Ranbaxy company, India is eager to help him to fight against doping scandal.

In an exclusive talk with Nepalnews, Bhandari again clarified that he is totally innocent and that he didn’t use any prohibited drugs to increase his body prowess. “I would like to go anywhere and everywhere to investigate the reality of the doping scandal”, Bhandari said.

“We are ready to help Rajendra Bhandari if the authorities seek our cooperation in clearing Rajendra Bhandari from the doping scandal,” said Chandrasen Sharma, managing director at Good Health Medical Services Pvt Ltd, country agent of Ranbaxy Company, a leading newspaper quoted today. According to the reports, the chance of coming negative in the second doping test is almost negligible at one percent but there are examples of coming out clean in some cases.

SRL Ranbaxy is the same company that helped Indian athlete Sunita Rani — who tested positive after winning gold in 1,500m and a bronze in 5,000m at the 14th Asian Games in Busan- to collect her medal again after being found negative in the second test.

Meanwhile, Good Health Medical Services Pvt Ltd sent a letter to National Sports Council (NSC) seeking the opportunity to look into Rajendra’s matter. But, Member Secretary of NSC, Jeewan Ram Shrestha, said that the NSC would decide on the case after analyzing the report submitted by the Investigation Committee formed by NSC to probe Rajendra’s case.

According to the GHMS, such kind of doping tests can be done by 95 methods while the Malaysian laboratory where Bhandari’s samples were tested was done using only 5 methods.

Rajendra, who was summoned by probe committee on Saturday, has strongly objected the use of drugs and has appealed to everyone to help him to resolve the issue. The NSC and the Nepal Olympic Committee are to hold a meeting in a few days to look into further developments in this case.
