Chief of Army Staff of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA), General Pyar Jung Thapa, returned Kathmandu after completing the three-day visit to New Delhi on Wednesday.

Thapa was the chief guest in the passing out parade ceremony of the Indian Nation Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune on Monday.

In Delhi, Thapa met Indian defense minister, defense secretary, foreign secretary and high-level security officials among others. During the visit Thapa held high-level military talks in the Indian capital to chalk out joint measures to deal with the on going Maoist insurgency in Nepal and its spillover to India, reports said.

This is the second time in the history of the NDA that a foreigner was made the chief guest of the ceremony, reports quoting an RNA official said. The then Chinese PM had received the honour in 1956.
