Chief of the Army Staff Gen. Pyar Jung Thapa met his Indian counterpart General Sundarajan Padmanabhan in New Delhi Thursday and discussed defence cooperation between the two countries, AFP said.
He also held talks separately with navy chief Madavendra Singh and chief of the air force, S. Krishnaswamy, the Defence Ministry official said. “Thapa discussed defence cooperation between the two countries,” he told AFP.
He also met Defence Minister George Frenandes. President A,P.J. Abdul Kalam conferred on Gen Thapa a the rank of honorary general shortly after arriving on a seven day visit Wednesday.
Gen. Thapa will also visit the infantry school at Mhow in central India, the largest and oldest military training institution in the country.
