Furtemba Sherpa to follow Puskar Shah, the first Nepali world cyclist

Twenty four year old Furtemba Sherpa, from Shankhuwasava District has stepped up for the world bicycle tour intended to convey a message of world peace and environment protection on Friday.

Sherpa left Kathmandu Friday on a tour of 14 countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and others in the first round of a world tour which he aims to complete within three years.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Keshab Sthapit gave him a flag of Nepal and Lord Buddha in a program organized to bid farewell and kick off the tour.

Most of the Nepali Sherpas are famous for their mountain climbing feats, but Furtemba Sherpa wants to set a record as the second Nepali to complete a world cycling tour.

Puskar Shah has visited many countries and it still on tour as the first Nepali cyclist. nepalnews.com rh Dec. 26
