Four policemen were killed in a landmine explosion planted by Maoist insurgents in the western district of Rupendehi Monday. Three policemen were injured in the incident.

According to security sources, the incident occured near Manigram as the vehicle they were traveling in ran over the landmine planted on the road at around 8 a.m.

The policemen were heading towards Rammani Multiple Campus from the police post to provide security for the examination which is being held there.

The injured have been air-lifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
