One day after police arrested two senior members of the then royal cabinet for instigating unrest in the terai, police arrested another member of the royal cabinet, Salim Miya Ansari, Thursday morning.
Ansari was arrested from his residence at Pulchowk this morning.
Similarly, police arrested former chairman of the Morang district development committee Ballav Prasad Dahal from Morang. He was nominated DDC chairman by the royal government.
Some of the ministers and the leaders of the political parties have charged that the palace is behind the terai unrest and the government has started crackdown against royalists.
At least seven people have been killed and dozens others injured in the ensuing violence in Terai during protests organised by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and two factions of Terai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha (JTMM), demanding amendment in the recently-promulgated interim constitution to guarantee proportional representation in the upcoming constituent assembly polls and a federal system.
The meeting of the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists held on Monday formed a task force to submit report on the terai unrest, electoral system and restructuring of the state.
