Chairman of the Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party (NWPP), one of the constituents of the ruling seven party alliance, Narayan Man Bijukchhe has said that United States and other international forces were conspiring to foil the government-Maoist peace talks.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Morang chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists in Biratnagar on Thursday, he also accused the US of trying to create an environment for its army to enter Nepal.
“For the sake of sovereignty and security, we need to keep the increasing American interference in check,” Bijukchhe added.
Bijukchhe also said the government would be responsible if the talks failed.
Saying that the United Nations was not needed to solve the country’s problem, Bijukchhe said, “Nepalis themselves are capable of solving their problem. A new problem will arise if we permit foreign meddling.”
Bijukchhe said political indecision was to blame for the delay in drafting an interim statute.
