Follow NC statute, says Upadhyaya

Biratnagar, Jan. 14 : Minister for Education and Sports Amod Prasad Upadhyaya says that the coming tenth general convention of the Nepali Congress would be a milestone in many ways to those having faith towards the Nepali Congress and democracy.

Addressing a regional party workers’ meeting organised by the Nepali Congress constituency-1 regional party committee at Jhapartal of Govindapur village in Morang district on Saturday, Minister Upadhyaya called on the party workers to exercise restrain and wait for the decisions of the General Convention, to follow the decisions of the General Convention when they have been endorsed and to accept the results of the elections.

He said the need of the day was to follow on the path shown by the party’s statute and to imbibe the thinking that all are Congress men.

The multi-party democracy has been accepted as the best system of governance in the developed countries of the world because of its special characteristic of accepting any decisions that come through an acceptable and definite process, Mr. Upadhyaya said, adding that the same process has been well-adopted in the Nepali Congress also.

He said it was expected that the tenth General Convention of the party should propel the party ahead in a definite process.

A process has been adopted in the party in which the party can identify and choose leaders who are capable of serving the people and a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual society like ours and where the party president can also choose capable and qualified leaders to the party’s central working committee.

Nepali Congress Morang district President Ashok Koirala, Nepali Congress Mahasamiti members Dilip Sapkota and Gopalman Singh Rajbhandari, vice-chairman of Morang DDC Tuluram Rajbanshi, Nepali Congress Morang District Committee member Shyam Raj Upadhyaya and Nepal Tarun Dal Morang District Committee secretary Damodar Koirala also expressed their views at the programme presided over by Nepali Congress Morang district constituency-1 regional president Shiva Narayan Singh.

Meanwhile, Minister Upadhyaya also inaugurated a community awareness fair organised by the association for the uplift of the santhal indigenous community at Amtola of Rangeli village in Morang district on Saturday.
