Floods triggered by incessant rains in the recent days have killed at least 45 people and dozens are still missing, the Radio Nepal reported.
The floods and landslides have displaced nearly ten thousand people in different parts of the country. Many bridges in the Tarai have been damaged creating obstruction of vehicular movement.
The Prithivi Highway linking the capital with the rest of the country has been blocked due to the occurrence of landslide in different places including Krishnabhir.
The road blockade in the Arniko Highway however has been cleared, according to the police.
Floods and landslide killed 27 people in the Kathmandu Valley alone. The valley recorded the highest rainfall in three decades, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The last highest rainfall of 102.8 millimeters was recorded in 1972. The rainfall recorded Monday however exceeded the previous record and stood at 207 mm. Nagarkot, a tourist destination situation to the east of the valley recorded the second highest rainfall of 160 mm.
