After the closure of the Unilelver Nepal Ltd, one of the biggest Indian joint-venture industries in Nepal, five other industries have also suspended their operations for indefinite period from Wednesday.
The industries were closed attributed to threats from the Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF), reports said. The closure has made over 650 workers jobless.
According to the reports, the workers knew about the closure of their industries only after they saw the notice posted on the notice board that the factories had been shut down.
With the closure of the factories, at least half a dozen local industries have been severely affected, reports added.
