At least five people were killed when a passenger bus heading to Mahendranagar from Bajhang skidded off the road and plunged 200 meters in Rupail area of Sunkuda VDC in Bajhang district on Monday.

The incident injured 22 more people, six seriously. It has been reported that the bus skidded off due to the slippery road caused by continued rainfall in the last few days.

Khadak Raj Joshi and Ujale Bhandariof Sunkuda, Bharat Thapa of Pithalek, Damber Bhandari of Parakatne and Sita Devi Kunwar of Khiratodi were killed on the spot.

Those receiving minor injuries are undergoing treatment at the Dadeldhura hospital while those seriously injured have been referred to the Dhangadi regional hospital.

The bus was numbered Na 1 Kha 1282. At least six persons were killed and 14 injured in a jeep accident in Palpa on the same day.
