First dental surgeon of Nepal passes away

The first dental surgeon of Nepal, Dr. Basanta Bahadur Rajbhandari, passed away at the age of 91 last Thursday.

Founder member of Nepal Medical Association, Dr. Rajbhandari had contributed a lot for the medical sector of the country. He contributed significantly in the sector of oral health of the country as a founder President of Nepal Dental Association.

He was decorated with Trishakti Patta III, Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 4th class, Coronation Medal 2013, Jan Padak, Coronation Medal, Royal Accession to the Throne Silver Jubilee Medal and Birendra Aishwarya Sewa Padak.

He also received Ordre Nationale du Merite, a French govt. decoration in 1966.

He is survived by his wife, 4 sons, 3 daughters and 13 grandchildren.
