Rights activists and senior journalists have urged the government to prepare a concrete roadmap to go for the election of the constituent assembly.
Speaking at an interaction in the capital on Sunday, organized by Media Club Nepal, senior journalist Rama Krishna Regmi said that the government should not delay to hold the election of the constituent assembly.
He cautioned that delay in holding the election of the constituent assembly might bring negative consequences and urged the government to immediately announce the dates of it.
He added that journalists should create pressure for holding the election and for complete representation of all sectors in the mission of making a new Nepal.
Charan Prasain, Chairman of Human Rights Organization Nepal (HURON) urged the seven party alliance (SPA) not to make any dispute in the national issues.
Prasain pointed out the need of political decision in the issue of forming interim government and interim constitution.
He said that weapons should be kept under the supervision of United Nations to ensure free and fair election of the constituent assembly.
He urged the SPA to create environment of confidence among the constituents of the SPA and among the SPA and Maoists for the peaceful settlement of the Maoist insurgency.
Central Committee Member of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Surya Thapa expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in holding the election of the constituent assembly.
He added that there should be participation of all sectors during the election of the constituent assembly.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the Maoists demands to dissolve the House of Representatives and constitution before the election of the constituent assembly and said that the house must remain until there is representative body of the people as the House was restored as per people’s aspiration expressed during people’s movement of the country.
Likewise, journalists Kapil Kafle and Keshav Devkota also urged the government not to further delay to hold the election of the constituent assembly.
They also demanded for forming the interim government and interim constitution immediately.
