European Parliament delegation starts parleys

The delegation of the European Parliament that arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday has started meetings with senior government officials and political leaders.

The delegation met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Foreign Ministry Monday afternoon.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, DPM Oli said he urged the EU delegation to assist in the reconstruction and rehabilitation process in Nepal.

The delegation led by South Asian affairs in-charge Neena Gill also met with Speaker Subash Nemwang and visited the House of Representatives.

The team was scheduled to meet Home Minister KP Sitaula in the morning but the meeting was cancelled as Sitaula remained busy in a cabinet meeting.

The seven-member EU delegation that arrived in Kathmandu to study the changed political scenario in Nepal is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister GP Koirala, leaders of seven political parties and the CPN (Maoist) during its weeklong stay.
