Director for Asia of the EuropeAid Cooperation Office (AIDCO) of the European Commission, Erich W Muller, is arriving in Nepal today for a three day official visit to assess the EC cooperation situation in Nepal.
A press release issued by the European Union said this is the first time an AIDCO official at Director’s level is undertaking a bilateral visit to Nepal.
“Series of meetings will also be undertaken to discuss major priorities and development challenges of Nepal,” the statement adds.
Muller is scheduled to hold meetings with the representatives of the Nepal Government, government’s Peace Secretariat, the Election Commission, civil society, the World Bank, the UN and other international agencies.
This is a second high-level European Commission visit to Nepal following the political change in the country. Hervé Jouanjean, Deputy Director General of the Directorate-General for External Relations of the European Commission (EC) visited Nepal on 1-2 June 2006.
