Kathmandu, May 31: General Secretary of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that party workers should take the party’s policy, its ideology and activities down to the people’s level in a correct manner.
Inaugurating the second national workshop cum seminar on news reporting and dissemination organised by the CPN-UML publicity department at the party central office today, Mr Nepal underlined the need for carrying out publicity in deference to people’s expectations and the national interest through positive means while remaining within the parameters of moral values.
We are in the communist movement in the belief that truth, justice and the people will prevail ultimately, and this very fact needs to be disseminated by the party’s communicators, he added.
Even now the burgeoise, the reactionary forces and anti-people elements are sowing misconceptions about the communists, and we are unable to put paid to that. We are working for the benefit of the people, but we are unable to make them realise this very fact, he said.
He also called on party workers associated with the party’s publicity work to cultivate the image of the party and disseminate its policies and programmes among the masses.
Publicity department chief and party central member Pradeep Nepal said that the party’s communicators should take up journalism in a credible and responsible manner in view of a lack of principles and professionalism in this sector.
District level party publicity department chiefs, journalist, party members working in the capital and others who look after the department are taking part in the two-day seminar.
During the seminar, chairman of Press Chautari Bijaya Chalise and journalists Binaya Kasaju are to present working papers.
