The Dutch parliament for the second time postponed its crucial vote on scrapping bilateral direct aid to Nepal, for second week of December, the Kathmandu Post reported Wednesday.

“The proposal was not in the agenda set for Tuesday’s discussion in the parliament,” the daily quoted Narayan Shamsher Thapa, Nepal’s (Belgium-based) Ambassador to the European Union, as saying. “The parliament is expected to vote on the proposal before Christmas,” Thapa said.

Along with Nepal, the Netherlands government had decided to stop aid for other 10 countries including India, Bhutan and the Philippines.

To this regard, the Dutch government had forwarded a proposal to the parliament for an approval of its decision to scrap two and a half decades long bilateral assistance to Nepal and other countries, the daily said.
