Keema Sherpa, 65, of Bouddha was shot dead by Assistant Police Sub Inspector Damodar Kalathoki who opened fire on Sherpa in a fit under the heavy influence of alcohol Sunday night, police said.
The policeman in plain clothes was quarreling with Sherpa over the issue of some amount which he was supposed to receive.
Sherpa after being shot on the head was taken to the Nepal Medical College for treatment. Doctors there suggested that as Sherpa was in a serious condition he be taken to the Teaching Hospital where he died the same night.
After the incident there was widespread police mobilisation in the Boudhha area to pacify the angry crowd.
