Senior vice-chairman of the erstwhile royal cabinet, Dr Tulsi Giri, told the high-level investigation commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Krishna Jung Rayamajhi that he would be present before the commission of his own accord on Tuesday to record his statement.
The Himalayan Times daily quoted a member of the commission as saying that Dr Giri told a staff that he will be present before the commission as ordered.
According to the member, Dr Giri told the staff he will be at the commission before stipulated time. The Commission has ordered them to be present there at 11 a.m.
The Commission has summoned them to record their statements over their role in suppressing the people’s movement during the Jana Andolan (people’s movement) in which 21 pro-democracy activists were killed and thousands injured.
The commission formed to probe the atrocities committed to suppress the people’s movement had summoned three members of the royal cabinet including Dr. Giri.
Other members are former minister Badri Prasad Mandal and former assistant minister Nikshya Shumsher Rana.
