Police has arrested dozens of students and other leaders from Ratnapark area while marching rallies to make the one-day Valley-wide strike successful.

According to witnesses and other reports, leaders Lilamani Pokhrel, Gopal Rai and Sarita Giri, among others, were apprehended from the rallies. Police also baton-charged the strike organisers in front of Bir Hospital area.

In Chabahil, a group of students vandalised a vehicle belonging to Royal Nepal Airlines, the eye-witnesses said.

Student leaders said they have seized dozens of motorcycles plying on the road and that they will return the vehicles to the owners in the evening. In Samakhushi, students have torched a taxi for operating in the strike day.

The strike has also affected life in Kavre district, as life remained paralysed in the district with the call of one-day long “Kavre Bandh” in the district on Monday.

Five parties announced the strike protesting police intervention in their “peaceful” rallies last week.
