Doctors around the country have launched protest against what they call government’s ‘passivity’ to secure the release of Dr. Murali Prasad Singh, who was abducted from Rajbiraj, Saptari district, six days ago by an unknown group.

Claiming that the government failed to take any initiatives for Singh’s release, the Medical Practitioner’s Association (MPA) launched two-day nationwide protest programme from today.

As part of the protest, doctors around the country are wearing black armbands during their working hours today.

Similarly, doctors will close the Out Patient Department (OPD) for an hour tomorrow.

The association further warned that if the government remained mum on the issue then it would intensify its protests from Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in Siraha District Hospital, doctors have stopped all services except the emergency service protesting the abduction.

Dr. Singh had been abducted from near his house in Rajbiraj on Tuesday.
