Doctors at the Teaching hospital have been resorting to strikes since Friday after an armed police official who came with a patient manhandled a doctor on duty.

Armed Police Inspector Bishnu Lamicchane manhandled Dr. Dayananda Lamsal charging him of negligence after his wife Mathura Lamicchane died Wednesday from kidney failure.

The doctors have demanded stringent action against the police inspector who is said to have threatened to kill Dr. Lamsal.

Executive Director of the hospital Dr. Mahendra Kumar Nepal said efforts to defuse the strike had not been successful. Efforts would be made to address the problem on Sunday.

The government has barred those delivering special services to the general people from resorting to any kind of strike. But this time around as the doctor on duty was threatened with his life, the situation seems to have gone out of control.
