The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has said that diplomatic efforts are on to rescue Nepali nationals staying in Lebanon amidst mounting Israeli attacks there.

In a statement on Saturday, the MoFA asked all the Nepalis living in Lebanon to contact the Nepali Consular General’s office in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, for their return to Nepal.

Citing information given by the Nepali Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, the ministry said that a passenger ship that would pick up foreigners including Nepalis from Lebanon would leave on Sunday, a day before the schedule. The Ministry also urged the relatives of the Lebanon-based Nepalis to ask them to contact the Consular General’s office on time for rescue.

An estimated 4500 Nepalis are currently living in Lebanon. There are no reports of casualties of Nepalis in Israeli missile attacks so far.

Reports said the rescued Nepalis would arrive in Nepal via India.

Meanwhile, seven Nepali nationals, who were rescued from Lebanon, arrived in Indian city of Mumbai and capital New Delhi Friday night. The seven Nepalis, two of them women, were scheduled to land in Kathmandu by Saturday night, reports said.
