Dialogue can solve all problems: Gupta

Kathmandu, May 23: Minister for Information and Communications Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta has said that as there are no problems that cannot be solved through dialogue, the present government has laid emphasis on an atmosphere of understanding and a political culture based on wider consensus.

Minister Gupta said this while speaking at a programme organized by reporters club Nepal and Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Dhading branch to present the martyr Jagat Prakash Jung Shaha journalism award at Dhading Besi today.

We should never encourage those who are trying to project multiparty democracy as banal and advocate a system of ruling that draws its sustenance from terror, he said,

Stating that the country is witnessing increased violent activities aimed at the establishing a jungle rule, Minister Gupta said those perpetrating terror in the country now cannot countenance the existence of others since they do not have the moral courage of carrying their own party flag in the presence of others.

He also alerted one and all against anti-democracy activities.

Minister Gupta presented the Martyrs Jagat Prasad Jung Journalism Award to active journalist of Dhading Sitaram Prasad Verma and felicitated him by wrapping a shawl around him. The award has been instituted by the Reporters Club Nepal with the objective of encouraging the journalists outside of Kathmandu Valley.

The award carries a purse of Rs. 5,000 and a letter of commendation.

On the occasion, Minister Gupta also released a souvenir entitled “Dhading Paribesh” published by FNJ, Dhading.

MP Ramnath Adhikari, DDC chairman Khem Prasad Lohani, president of Nepal Press Council Harihar Birahi, president of Reporter’s Club Nepal Rishi Dhamala and other speakers also expressed their views at the function chaired by Reporter’s Club Dhading unit president Hemant Dahal.

Also today, addressing a gathering of party workers organised by NC Dhading district working committee, Minister for Information and Communications Mr Gupta said Nepali Congress is ready to work together with all other parties for strengthening parliamentary system through economic development and consolidation of the mechanism of political mobilization.

He also pointed out the need for nc workers to work in the interest of the people with a spirit of unity and bring the fruits of development within the reach of the people.
