President of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the candidate to lead the interim government has not been decided yet.
Talking to media persons in Nepalgunj on Friday morning, former Prime Minister Deuba said the seven parties and the Maoists had discussed this issue but there was no agreement that current Prime Minister Giriaja Prasad Koirala would also lead the interim government.
Maoist chairman Prachanda has already said Koirala should lead the interim government while UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal yesterday said there has not been any decision yet whether Premier Koirala would remain the Prime Minister in the interim cabinet.
Terming the six-point deal as historical, Deuba asked the Maoists and the other parties to act sincerely towards implementing the deal. “Peace in the country can sustain only if the agreement is fully implemented,” he added.
He, however, expressed suspicion if the Maoists would adhere to the agreement.
He said the NC (D) was in favour of federal system but did not say anything about the party agendas for constituent assembly election.
