Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport before his departure, Deuba said he would engage in discussions with Indian political leaders on bilateral issues and Nepal’s current political situation during the visit.
Asked if his visit had anything to do with purported attempts being made by Indian politicians for early reunification of the NC (D) and the Nepali Congress led by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Deuba said, “I am not visiting India for party reunification although I am in favour of respectful reunion.”
During his Delhi tour, Deuba will met with Indian prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, chief of Congress Party Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Chandra Shekhar and few others.
His is the latest high-level visit of Nepali politicians to New Delhi after Prime minister Koirala’s official visit early this month.
